East Windsor Township Participates in Operation Medicine Cabinet 2011

East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that the Township will be participating in “Operation Medicine Cabinet 2011” on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a drop box at the police building.

Operation Medicine Cabinet is a program sponsored by the New Jersey Office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offering residents the opportunity to dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in a safe and secure manner.  East Windsor Township will have a drop box in the lobby of the police building, located at 80 One Mile Road, for the collection of these various medicines.  Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal.

Mayor Mironov stated, “This program provides awareness to residents regarding the importance of properly disposing of expired and unneeded prescription drugs, and offers a legal and environmentally sound method of collecting and disposing of these medications.”  Mayor Mironov continued, “we encourage our residents to take advantage of this local opportunity to dispose of unused and unneeded medication in an environmentally responsible manner and reduces possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs.”
