MCCC Gallery Calls for Entries for "Mercer County Artists 2012"
West Windsor, N.J. – Calling local artists! Artists aged 18 or older who live, work, or attend school in Mercer County are invited to submit their art for consideration for this year’s “Mercer County Artists 2012” exhibition at The Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC). Jurying takes place on Saturday, Feb. 18 at The Gallery.
Artists may enter up to two original works in any media except photography. (The county hosts a separate photography exhibit). This year’s juror is Jeffrey Wechsler, recently retired senior art curator at the Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University.
More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded, including the coveted Mercer County Culture & Heritage Purchase Awards. Artwork that receives Purchase Awards from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission will become part of the county's permanent art collection.
A full prospectus for the exhibit is available at www.mccc.edu/gallery. For a hard copy of the prospectus, artists should email their name and full mailing address to gallery@mccc.edu.
The “Mercer County Artists” show will be on display from March 6 through April 5. An awards ceremony will take place March 14 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by and supported by the county’s Culture & Heritage Commission through a grant from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission, with funding from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts/Department of State, a partner of the National Endowment for the Arts.
The MCCC Gallery is located on the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Directions and a campus map can be found at www.mccc.edu.
