2 Incumbents, 1 Newcomer Elected to Cranbury Board of Education
The budget also passed at Tuesday's election.
Cranbury voters approved the school board budget and elected a newcomer to the Board of Education on Tuesday, according to unofficial election results.
Former Township Committee candidate Karen Callahan received 230 votes, enough to elect her over incumbent and former board Vice President Austin Schraudenbach, who received 207 votes. Candidate Ash Hadap also fell short for a seat with 174 votes, according to unofficial results.
Incumbents Nicole Pormilli and Lynne Schwarz, the board president, were re-elected. Schwarz received 273 votes and Promilli received 264 votes.
The school budget also passed with 318 votes. The budget calls for a 1 percent tax increase, which is under the 2 percent state mandated cap. This translates to $6,237.64 on the average assessed residential home, $605,143, in cranbury.
There was a 16.97 percent turnout among the 2710 registered voters.

Hi, my name is Denise a 46year old female who works for the cranbury public library and im very unhappy that the school election passed. Because I think that the school is very greedy and the kids are very spoiled. They think they can just get everything they want. It's not fair to the people who voted no on the ballot to reject the budget.

I'm in agreement with Denise. The "nothing is too good for my child" group won again. The day will come when all of us seniors will be gone because we can't afford to pay for your children. The refusal to move the school board elections to november just shows how that group monopolizes the vote.
