Cranbury Swears In Newest Member of the Department
The officer is the second woman to join the force.
The newest member of the Cranbury Police Department was sworn in Monday, making her the second woman to join the force, according to the police chief.
Out of 47 applicants, Police Officer Jillian Dworzanski scored at the top throughout the application process and will join 15 other members of the department, including her brother Sgt. Ryan Dworzanski, said Police Chief Ricky Varga.
"Through the selection process, Officer Dworzanski proved to be the most qualified and experienced candidate, coming to us with over six years of law enforcement experience," Varga said.
Dworzanski began her career in 2005 as a special police officer with the Seaside Park Police Department. She has also served in the Ocean Gate Police Department and Island Heights Police Department, and is from the Toms River area.
"She meets the departments immediate needs and long term goals, and we are all looking forward to her having a long and safe career serving the residents of Cranbury," Varga said.
The Township Committee approved one new police officer for the department after two officers retired in December.
Dworzanski said it’s an “honor” to join the department.
“I’m very looking forward to spending the rest of my life here as an officer,” she said.
