East Windsor Announces July 4 Fireworks, Summer Concerts

The festivities will take place at Etra Lake Park.

East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members are inviting all area residents to on Saturday, July 2 for the East Windsor Township Independence Day Celebration. The rain date is Sunday, July 3. 

The Independence Day celebration's free entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. with Jerry Rife’s Rhythm Kings Dixieland Jazz Band, a six-piece band from the Delaware Valley area, best known for its traditional jazz sound. They will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One, a six-piece ensemble from Central Jersey performing Americana and a variety of popular melodies.

The spectacular fireworks display will commence immediately following the musical presentations, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

“Our nation’s Independence Day is a great occasion for our residents to join together in celebration and in recognition of our blessings of liberty and freedom,” said Mayor Mironov. She urged everyone to “bring your blankets and chairs, and use the barbecue grills for a night of free fun at beautiful Etra Lake Park.”

There will also be vendors present so you can purchase refreshments. This free event is made possible through the generous contributions of many area businesses.

Mayor Mironov has also announced the summer program of events at Etra Lake Park. Kicking off on Sunday, July 17 at 6 p.m., Beatlemania will perform all-time favorites of the Beatles such as, “All My Loving,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Eight Days A Week” and many more. The rain date is July 24. 

On Saturday, July 23 at 7 p.m. the township will sponsor Family Night in the Park, which will feature a large-screen viewing of “Despicable Me.” The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with an amazing juggling show, inflatable rides, games and vendors. “Despicable Me” is a comedic story of Gru, the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Villian,” whose plan to pull off the craziest crime of the century is up-ended by three cute little orphan girls.

The second concert, featuring the Chimetones, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. The Chimetones specialize in oldies from the '50s and '60s, performing many all-time favorites from such major acts as the Temptations, the Platters, the Coasters, the Drifters, the Dubs, Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge, the Earls and many others. The rain date will be Aug. 22.

On Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m., the township will sponsor a second Family Night in the Park. The evening will begin with a performance by a local band “100% Cotton,” a rock band that blends a variety of styles and genres with some improvisation and jamming. After the show, “Toy Story 3” will be shown on the big screen. “Toy Story 3” tells what happens to Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the toys when Andy grows up and goes away to college.
