East Windsor Police Arrest Alleged Car Thief

Bail was set at $20,000.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with stealing several cars, including a 2008 Ford F350 from Haldeman Ford and a Mercedes Benz from a Westwood dealership in Bergen County, according to East Windsor and Westwood police.

Michael Quezada, of North Bergen, was arrested Friday in Perth Amboy after an investigation lead police to him, East Windsor police said Tuesday. The Ford truck was stolen on Jan. 16.

Quezada and an unidentified man visited a Westwood dealership near closing time on Dec. 5 and had a sales person show them the $71,000 2010 Mercedes Benz GL550, according to Westwood police. Later that night, security camera footage showed two men breaking into the lot and driving the car away. Quezada was identified from the video, Westwood police said.

Quezada was also identified from a video of a similar incident that occurred in Tenafly last month, according to Westwood police.

The three cars have not been found, police said.

East Windsor police charged Quezada with theft, trespassing and criminal mischief, and he was lodged at the Mercer County Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.
