Escapee From East Windsor Sentenced Monday
The escaped man led police on a six-hour search in November 2011.
The East Windsor man who led police on a six-hour search after kicking out the window of a police car and escaping was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday, according to court records.
In November 2011, police responded to a call at Americana Diner for a man harassing a female employee and later found 31-year-old Kevin Slovensky at Town Center Plaza. During the arrest, Slovensky assaulted an East Windsor police officer and took a set of handcuff keys without him knowing, police said after the incident.
Slovensky had warrants out of Montgomery Township, Hoboken, Tinton Falls and Fairview, police said.
While Montgomery Township police transported Slovensky to Somerset County Jail, he kicked out the patrol car’s window and took off near Crescent Avenue and County Route 518 in Rocky Hill, authorities said. The escape promoted a multi-agency search involving a New Jersey State Police helicopter and South Bound Brook Police K-9 unit.
Montgomery Township police found Slovensky hiding in a commercial building in Rocky Hill and recovered the set of handcuff keys, police said.
