Fiery Three-Car Crash Spares 8 Lives

Eight people involved in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury sustained no serious injuries Monday

A fiery, three-car accident north of Exit 8A on the New Jersey Turnpike in Monroe Township Monday caused lane closures and significant traffic delays.

However, according to State Trooper Brian Polite, the incident did not result in any serious injuries.

Polite said the accident occurred at 1:48 p.m. when a Lexus Sedan, driven by Bernard Emejuru, 42, of Brooklyn, crashed into the barrier while Emejuru was driving on the northbound inner lanes.

The vehicle then crashed into a Nissan Altima driven by Wayne Waldron, 54, of Bangor, Pennsylvania.

The Altima consequently veered into the middle lane, where it hit a Ford F150, driven by Colin Pascik, 22, of Monroe Township, and containing three additional passengers.

According to Polite, all three vehicles caught fire, but despite the severity of the incident, no one was hurt.

The Lexus Sedan contained two additional passengers including Emejuru’s baby, who was secured in a child seat in the back seat of the vehicle. The child was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick as a safety precaution.

Polite said police are still investigating the incident and no cause has yet been determined.
