UPDATE: Garden State Parkway Closed From Exit 63 to Southern Terminus
Expect additional closures on Parkway and Turnpike in hours to come, Christie administration warns.
Update, 12:15 p.m.: Gov. Chris Christie announced the Garden State Parkway closure has been extended to Exit 63 to the southern terminus in both directions.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced that it has closed the Garden State Parkway to traffic in both directions from Exit 38 at the Atlantic City Expressway to the toll road’s southern terminus in Cape May County.
The decision to close this approximately 35-mile section of the Parkway was made about 10 a.m. due to flooding in several locations, according to a press release issued by Gov. Chris Christie's office. It will remain closed until further notice.
Additional significant closures on both the Parkway and Turnpike may be announced in the coming hours as conditions continue to deteriorate, according to the press release.
The Christie administration advises unnecessary travel should be avoided, but motorists who must travel should check 511nj.org for information on travel conditions and road closures.

Officials have closed a larger section of the Garden State Parkway because of flooding. The parkway is closed from Exit 63 in Stafford Township to the southern terminus. Most of Atlantic City is under water, and there's flooding in other cities up and down the New Jersey shore as the storm approaches for a predicted direct hit to New Jersey.
