Hightstown High School Student to Perform in All Eastern Honors Ensemble

Senior Miranda Contreras-Peterson was recognized during last Monday’s Board of Education meeting for her accomplishment

During the Dec. 10 East Windsor Regional School District Board of Education meeting, Miranda Contreras-Peterson, a senior at Hightstown High School, was recognized for being chosen to perform in an All Eastern Honors Ensemble.

She is one of 780 students chosen from 12 northeastern states and the District of Columbia who will join the ensemble.

Contreras-Peterson will perform with the All Eastern Treble Choir, an ensemble of 120 female voices. She will perform at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Conn., in April, 2013 as part of the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference.

Previously, Miranda has participated in the New Jersey All State Mixed Choir and Central Jersey Region Choir.

At Hightstown High School, she is active in the choral program, having performed in Choir, Advanced Choir, and Chamber Singers. She has sung at school athletic events, coffee houses, talent shows, and she represented the school by singing the National Anthem at community events.

Contreras-Peterson has performed on stage since elementary school and has been in several Hightstown High School dramatic productions, including “The Sound of Music,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Annie,” and “12 Angry Jurors.”

She plans to further her music abilities and education by studying music therapy in either Virginia or Texas.

“The Board of Education and the East Windsor Regional School District are very proud of Miranda’s selection to the All Eastern Honors Ensemble and wish her continued success in all her music endeavors,” stated a news release from the district.
