Joe Canal's Discount Liquor Outlet Coming to Hightstown
The new liquor store will move into the current Hedy's Liquor location.
Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor Outlet will be opening in Hightstown on Mercer Street in the current Hedy’s Liquor location, according to a sign outside the building.
The council approved a resolution for liquor license on Monday with both Joe Canal’s and Hedy’s Liquor listed.
A “coming soon” sign can be seen in front of the store, which remains open as Hedy’s Liquor. The owner of Joe Canal’s could not be reached for comment.
Joe Canal’s has 13 locations in New Jersey, according to the website.

Looks like another liquor store is coming into the old Randall Furniture, too. Now we just need a pawn shop in the old Super Fresh and a few bail bonds places and it will be just like living in Florida!

maybe Joe Canals will store their wine properly and have someone who works there that actually knows about wine instead of all the bumbling idiots that work at the 3 current East Windsor liquor stores.

I completely agree with your sentiment, M. A wine shop where there are sales people who are enthusiastic about the product that they sell is becoming rare. The current Hedy's is as bad as it gets, several rows (why??) of mass market overpriced wine and the only interesting beers in the cooler not having any price on the shelf or listed. I want to like the place, but it's just irredeemable.

This is not exactly breaking news. That sign has been up for awhile now. The big question I have is, WHEN will Joe Canals be opening? There is no mention of that or even an approximate time frame.
