Locals Dress in Superhero Costumes for Hightstown to Princeton Bar Crawl
Nine area residents kicked off a superhero bar crawl in Hightstown Saturday before continuing to Princeton dressed head-to-toe in costumes in light of the Aurora, Colo. shooting that killed 12 people and injured 58 others.
"[We] wanted to show people that in the face of a tragedy we can still live our lives and the acts of one evil person can't slow you down," 26-year-old Millstone resident Bruce Allen said in an email. "We thought heroes would be best due to the fact they were batman fans."
Starting at Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown, the "superheros" continued to Princeton where they went to several bars including the Princeton Sports Bar and Ivy Inn.
Participants included Bruce Allen, 26 of Millstone, Guy Descaro, 28, of Millstone, Eric Elsenbroek, 24, of Eatontown, Valerie Eynon, 34, of East Windsor, John Lapizzle, 24 of Morristown, Steve Miller, 24, of Hightstown, Robert Myers, 28, of Bordentown, Taylor Papp, 27, of Cream Ridge and Jill Swider, 25, of Millstone.
Allen and Miller were also part of a group of four that walked through downtown Hightstown before Hurricane Irene dressed in bathing suits and scuba masks.
