No One Injured After Car Crashes into East Windsor Restaurant

Dosai Place, an East Windsor restaurant, sustained several thousand dollars worth of damage after an elderyly man drove a Toyota Camry through its storefront

No one was injured Friday when a car crashed into the storefront window of Dosai Place, an Indian vegetarian restaurant located at 440 Route 130, in the Windsor Hights Shopping Center.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Friday when an elderly man attempted to reverse his Toyota Camry, but instead drove forward through the building’s window and front wall, said East Windsor Fire Company #1 Chief Kevin Brink.

East Windsor Police said Frank Slavin, 85, of Monroe, had difficulty parking his vehicle, and while parking, his vehicle became stuck on the concrete curbing. Slavin then reportedly attempted to dislodge his car from the curbing and inadvertently accelerated forward into the restaurant. He was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving

According to Brink, there was no entrapment or injury, though the driver was shaken up. The driver was the only occupant of the car.

East Windsor Fire Co. #1, East Windsor Police, a first aid squad from Capital Health, and township health and building departments were on the scene for about an hour.

When they arrived, firefighters found the car had crashed about 9 feet into the building. According to Brink, the building sustained no structural damage, but the restaurant must remain closed until they can make necessary repairs.

Brink estimates several thousand dollars in repairs, which would include repairing the storefront window, lower wall, and door.

Amazing! Even more amazing is the fact that the "old man's" name isn't released in the article. Hopefully he's not a former town official or civil servant. :(

My apologies as I too am an elderly man who missed the name (SOMEHOW!). No doubt I'll be the next story on "The Patch".
