Peddie Grad and Former Baltimore News Editor Dies
Phil Evans, 77, was once an editor for the Evening Sun in Maryland.
Peddie School graduate Phil Evans, 77, of Roland Park, Md., died May 8, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Evans served in the Army and worked for the Associated Press before joining the Evening Sun as a reporter and working his way up to city editor and then assistant managing editor, according to the Baltimore Sun.
"He was a charismatic and popular guy with a good news sense, sharp skill working with people, imagination and sense of humor," Ernest Imhoff, a colleague of Evans' in the newsrom, told the Sun.
Evans went on to be an editor for other papers, the Sun said, including the now-defunct nearby evening paper The Philadelphia Bulletin, which was later briefly revived under a different publisher. For the full story on Evans, look to the Baltimore Sun.
