It seems as though some people think New Jersey is doing great, so great in fact that they believe it should secede from the United States and form its own country.
A petition created by the We the People tool at petitions.Whitehouse.gov asks the Obama Administration to:
The petition was created on Saturday, Nov. 10, by “joe r” of Sewell. As of Wednesday, Nov. 14, the petition had about 12,000 signatures. The petition needs 25,000 signatures by Dec. 10 in order to get a response from the White House, according to the website.
New Jersey is just one of 30 states with petitions asking for permission to secede. Other states include New York, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Utah and Missouri
In response to some of the petitions, several people have created their own requests. Some ask that those who sign the petitions to secede have their citizenship revoked.
Another request asks that states that secede pay their fair share of the national debt before doing so and become ineligible for any federal assistance in the future.
"Residents of all states who wish to secede from the union should be required to take their own advice about 'personal responsibility', and pay their share of the national debt before being released to fend for themselves," it said.

I would like to secede if we dont have any democrats in office. If we do we might as well stay the way we are. The democrats are the one who are ruining this country and this state. They just want to keep on rewarding the people who put a burden on the taxpayers by raising our taxes to give them more freebies.

Ooh, a single party government such as the one in North Korea, China, or Cuba! That sounds like a really great idea. I hate checks and balances.

hey buster, i'm jewish but i believe in "christian charity" brothers helping each other -- otherwise we're just barbarians
you should thanhk GOD everyday that you don't help for food, a roof over your head and that you never have health problems requiring professional help
the people devasted by Sandy i'm sure that they are happy for FEMA and other gov't sponsored funds so that can rebuild and go on with their lives. private companies, such as electric, etc. won't do it by themselves

robert if you are talking to me I have health problems and I have taken care of them my whole life without whining and crying for freebies. I never said anything about not wanting to help victims of hurricane sandy . I will help the people who truly deserve help not the moochers.

THis whole issue is about as smart as changing the name of french Fries to freedom fries. THe election is over and the people have spoken. Sometimes the candidate of your choice wins and sometimes the other guy wins. but that is life. We had to put up with George Bush for 8 years and we did not try to secede from the country. Stop being poor losers.
