Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Tell Patch: What Should Move into the Vacant Blockbuster Storefront?

If you could have anything move into this location, what would it be?

Several Blockbusters across the county have shut their doors, including the East Windsor location, leaving another vacant storefront in the same plaza where the SuperFresh building remains empty

Patch wants to know what type of business you would like to see at this location. A deli? An ice cream shop? Maybe an electronics store? Think outside the box about what you think the community needs.

Tell Patch in the comments below what establishment you think should come to this location.

Blockbuster?! we need to get business where longer stores that have gone and left. We have a shopping center empty where superfresh used to be and a empty grocery store i assume that is in the shopping center where target and charlie brown are located. That has been gone for years. Why cant we get some business down here, i wish we had a petsmart closer than 30 mins away.

I repeat,, there's a Pet Value Store in the Town Center shopping area. Who ever owns these shopping malls is charging rent so high, no one can afford to stay. If you must have designer coffees, Dunkin Donuts and Wa Wa offer a close second. GROCERY STORE.

How about some artist studios and try to get some unique stores in that will make Hightstown and East Windsor a destination to want to go to? We need something that sets us a part from every other highway commercial area. Make people want to go to our area instead of just happen to pass through. The downtown Hightstown is a great location and has potential to be a artsy up scale destination town, like New Hope or other "small town America" type place.

Really Robert? I didn't know it didn't come near a New Hope! Thanks for letting me know so I guess everyone should give up all together on this town. If you read what I wrote, I didn't say it was like a New Hope. I said IT HAS POTENTIAL!!!! It has a great location, right off the turnpike, and a small town America layout and look to it. So all I'm saying is we can build it up to be something. But I guess since it isn't we bother, right???

"My dear guests, I am Mr Rourke, your host. Welcome to Fantasy Island."

I agree that downtown Hightstown should strive in the direction Dave Bell is suggesting. An opportunity exists now to do so, especially since the Turnpike bypass is finishing up soon. This will push much of the dangerous, unsightly "pass thru" traffic around the town instead of through it. Maybe some actions can be planned to make the Franklin/Main/Stockton/Mercer streets more pedestrian, bicycle, and business friendly in conjunction with whatever flood protections are hopefully in the works.

Robert I don't argue with you on what Hightstown is becoming, I am just saying lets work on trying to turn it around. If you are so negative and fed up why are you still even bothering to read these articles or even live here anymore?

I think you can get more done by not being on council, you get more freedom to speak.I would run for council but don't think an independent could win without support.
