Truck Fire Caused Temporary Closure of Route 130

Route 130 north was closed at Fresh Ponds Road in South Brunswick Wednesday morning after a landscaping trailer caught fire.

No injuries were suffered after a trailer hauled by a landscaping truck caught fire on Route 130 in South Brunswick Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a truck belonging to Kremer Landscaping, of Friendship Road in South Brunswick, was headed down Route 130 north when the trailer attached to the truck caught fire near the Coca-Cola distribution facility.

Route 130 was shut down completely until about 8:15 a.m. on the northbound side near Fresh Ponds Road while firefighters extinguished the blaze. Traffic was backed up for close to a mile on the northbound side of Route 130, while traffic was slowed on the southbound side, according to South Brunswick Police. Both lanes on the northbound side of Route 130 were reopened as of 9:30 a.m.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
