The Teen Arts Festival is set for May.
The 2013 Mercer County Teen Arts Festival will be held Friday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the campus of Mercer County Community College in West Windsor. The Teen Arts Festival is a comprehensive arts education program open to all Mercer County public, private, parochial and home-school students in middle and high school, grades 6 through 12, ages 13 to 19. “The great thing about this program is that there are no winners or losers, just remarkably talented young people who can display their work and get positive feedback from professionals in the art world,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Mayor Janice S. Mironov recognized the elementary school winners of the East Windsor Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest. The theme of the poster is to promote any or all of the “4 R’s” of the East Windsor Township Recycling Program Logo, which are: Winners from Grades K - 2 and Grades 3 - 5 all received Mayoral Certificates of Recognition and gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, donated by corporate sponsor Shiseido America. “We are very proud of the students who participated in the Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest," Mironov said. The exhibition begins March 22 and runs until April 17 in Mariboe Gallery Peddie's campus in Hightstown.
The following release was issued by The Peddie School: The Mariboe Gallery at The Peddie School is proud to present “Sustenance,” an installation and exhibition by Texas-based artist Andrew DeCaen. The exhibition will run from March 22 - April 17, 2013. There will be an opening reception and artist talk on the evening of Friday, March 22, from 6:30 – 8 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Andrew DeCaen is an artist whose work explores and often mixes drawing, printmaking, and paper sculpture. In this exhibition, he will present works that explore the hidden significance in eating. Take a trip back in time to 1940's New York this weekend as Hightstown High School presents "Guys and Dolls". Performances are scheduled for Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The musical is about chorus girls, gamblers, and save-a-soul mission dolls in a post-World War II New York City. Main Characters While Nathan Detroit is trying to avoid marrying Adelaide, he bets his friend Sky Masterson that he cannot take Sarah Brown, a mission doll, to Havana. The musical unfolds as the audience watches the mission dolls attempting to reform the chorus girls and gamblers.
