Poem On Sandy "Rekindled Wrath"

My husband and I and our dog Sam were very fortunate concerning Sandy. We only had a temporary loss of power for a couple of days. Luckily, we had a generator and all my take for granted thoughts came spilling out of me and my poem "Rekindled Wrath" was created:

Rekindled Wrath

So (Sandy) you devastated

our lands, our homes, our cars,

our kin

with your winded ominous fingers

You took our

trees

and you think you

brought

us to our knees

Please

We shall

persevere

We rekindle

our

take for granted thoughts

For those

who are fortunate

their generators

temporarily dispense our naught

We are  now

humbled

and grateful

for shelter

our tears will flow

but can remain

dry

in our hearts

We reunite with family and friends

and break bread

We welcome a warm pillow

for our head

We savor the warm

thrust of a shower

a hot cup of coffee

Hot chocolate for our kids

A warm hug from our

canine and feline friends

their fur warms

our feet

So you devastated

our lands, our homes, our cars,

our kin

with your winded

ominous fingers

You took our

trees

and you think you

brought

us to our knees

We shall persevere

We rekindle

our

take for granted thoughts

and

We are brought

together

for We shall not

have naught!

Thank you Gail. Yes, I hope we remain untouched by future tragedies.
