Composting –Improve Your Garden Soil

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County will host a program, “Composting –Improve Your Garden Soil” - on Sunday, April 6, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.   The program will be held at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431 A Federal City Road, Pennington, adjacent to the Mercer County Equestrian Center. 

 

Master Gardeners will demonstrate how to enrich your soil and improve its structure with homemade compost, rich organic matter that you can produce at home.  Learn the essentials of composting:  ingredients, moisture, aeration and the pros and cons of various types of composting bins.  Strategies for successful composting will be demonstrated.

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Rutgers Master Gardeners participate in many volunteer programs throughout the County, as well as answer home horticulture questions through their Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline, (609) 989-6853, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (March through October) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (November through February).
