Elizabethtown Gas Makes Contributions to NJ SHARES' Energy Assistance Program

Elizabethtown Gas Makes Contributions to NJ SHARES’ Energy Assistance Program

Recent Elizabethtown Gas donations to New Jersey SHARES (NJ SHARES) to assist in their statewide Energy Assistance Program have totaled $70,000.  Donations go toward providing assistance to individuals and families in need of help meeting their energy and utility burden.

Elizabethtown Gas customers have contributed $25,000 to assist their neighbors in need with their natural gas bills. To celebrate the generosity of their customers, Elizabethtown Gas has donated another $25,000 to match their contributions.

Elizabethtown Gas has awarded energy assistance grants totaling more than $100,000 to five nonprofits in its service territory to supplement a portion of New Jersey residents’ home heating costs, and to support projects that promote energy conservation and efficiency. Their grant to NJ SHARES totals $20,000, 100 percent of which will go directly to helping New Jersey residents who need help with their electric and utility bills.

“We are very grateful to Elizabethtown Gas. They demonstrate their long-term commitment to New Jersey customers by ensuring an emergency fund is available to help qualifying households stay safe and warm in their homes as we head into the colder months,” said Barbara Gomes, Development Director at NJ SHARES.  “Together we have been able to help thousands of New Jersey households with their energy bills.”

“Each year, Elizabethtown Gas does its part by donating these grants to the official state-approved intake agencies for energy assistance and other strong community stakeholders in our service area,” said Brian MacLean, vice president of operations, Elizabethtown Gas. “These gifts not only reflect our core value – generosity of spirit, it reemphasizes our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people in the communities we serve.”

Each year, NJ SHARES relies on the generosity of our neighbors and friends in supporting our annual Capital Campaign. NJ SHARES donors and corporate sponsors, like the PNC Foundation, have already donated more than $450,000 to NJ SHARES' programs this year thus far. Our goal is to reach $500,000 by the end of the year. For more information on how you can help NJ SHARES reach this goal, please visit:  https://secure.njshares.org/howYouCanHelp/donationsNew.asp
