MCCC Funeral Service Program to Hold Open House May 10
WEST WINDSOR – Prospective students, their parents, and adults interested in a second career in the funeral service industry will have a chance to learn more about the Funeral Services program at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) during an open house Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Windsor campus Student Center, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Faculty, staff, and current students will be on hand to provide information about Mercer’s Funeral Service program, which offers a Funeral Service Certificate and a Funeral Service Associate in Applied Science degree. Both programs are accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Tours of recently refurbished facilities will be available.
The goals of the MCCC Funeral Service program are to provide students with professional training in preparation for licensure in the funeral service industry and to prepare students to embark upon a career in a service-oriented, care-giving profession. In addition, the program aims to provide an academic environment that encourages student research and successfully integrate theoretical, practical, and technical aspects of funeral service.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs the funeral service industry is expected to increase by 12 percent over the next 10 years.
