The PNC Foundation donated $10,000 to New Jersey SHARES (NJ SHARES) to assist the statewide organization increase awareness and educate individuals struggling to pay their energy and utility bills about programs available to assist them. The funding will go toward the purchase of energy conservation kits that will be distributed to New Jersey residents in need.

“We felt it was important to assist NJ SHARES in helping them spread the word that help is out there for individuals who face difficulty paying their utility bills,” said Joseph F. Whall, PNC Director of Client and Community Relations for Central & Northern New Jersey. “The PNC Foundation is committed to strengthening and enriching the lives of New Jersey residents and with the winter months fast approaching, anything we can do to help people stay safe and warm is fulfilling our mission.”

“We appreciate PNC Foundation’s continued commitment to our cause,” said Jim Jacob, president and CEO of NJ SHARES.  “It is important to link energy education and conservation tips to the energy and utility assistance programs we provide. These valuable dollars will go toward educating vulnerable populations on conservation and offering information on how to avoid making choices that could result in tragedy.”

Each year, NJ SHARES relies on the generosity of our neighbors and friends in supporting our annual Capital Campaign. NJ SHARES donors and corporate sponsors, like the PNC Foundation, have already donated more than $450,000 to NJ SHARES' programs this year thus far. Our goal is to reach $500,000 by the end of the year. For more information on how you can help NJ SHARES reach this goal, please visit: https://secure.njshares.org/howYouCanHelp/donationsNew.asp
