Store Manager Needed in Hightstown

Open position for second store location: 
Store Manager needed for fast paced thrift store in Hightstown, NJ.  Must be able to work weekends and nights (Monday through Saturday 10am to 6pm).  Great customer service and organizational skills required.  Managerial and/or retail experience preferred, must ensure safe and efficient operation of the thrift store.  Maximize revenues through use of approved marketing and display techniques, appropriate pricing practices and excellent customer service.  Train and schedule volunteers to cover available shifts. Primary Responsibilities:

·         Assist in the opening and closing of the store at the proper times

·         Work with inventory, hanging, tagging, pricing, displaying, rearranging to its best advantage

·         Sort and price donated merchandise

·         Must have the ability to properly secure and distribute donated merchandise; and be able to distinguish useable from non-useable donations

·         The position requires excellent organizational skills

·         Assist with cleaning and maintenance of work areas and sales space, including disposal of trash

·         Supervise all employees and volunteers, help in training volunteer personnel

·         Assist volunteers with thrift store operations

·         Assist with recording and processing of daily bank deposits, register tapes, and incoming money

·         Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team building skills

·         Display professional, courteous demeanor, maintain a positive and respectful attitude

·         Ability to read and write in English, bilingual is a plus (Spanish)

·         Adheres to agency policies & procedures

·         Acts as a role model within and outside the agency

·         Performs duties as workload necessitates; other duties as assigned

·         Communicates regularly with supervisor about store retail and personnel issues

·         Demonstrates flexibility and efficient time management skills and ability to prioritize workload

·         Be present during normal business hours on regularly scheduled work days; occasionally may be required to modify work schedule to cover co-workers

·         Ensure shop is kept clean and neat with merchandise aesthetically displayed

·         Ensure availability of all necessary supplies by maintaining and replenishing inventories as needed

·         Understand pricing and sorting procedures sufficiently to be able to supervise these activities

·         Obtain appraisals on rare books, antiques, instruments, china, silver and other potentially valuable articles

·         Work closely with Thrift Store Drivers to ensure and prompt pickups of donated items, schedule pickups

·         Prepare inventory for all donations; prepare all required documents for tax purposes

·         Keep volunteer roster current, including phone numbers and days and times worked; distribute copies to appropriate individuals

·         Track and maintain record of volunteer hours worked

·         Ensure the physical facilities and equipment are maintained, report any concerns in a timely manner

·         Store and maintain shop records, including sales totals and work logs

·         High school diploma, some college preferred

·         Retail and merchandising experience preferred as well as good public relations skills

·         Must be punctual and reliable; able to manage own time and function independently in an unstructured environment with minimum supervision

·         Must also possess leadership skills and the ability to train volunteers

·         Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted

·         Suggest and implement efficiency improvements to maximize profits

·         Must have valid driver’s license; may be asked to drive pickup or small box truck

·         Basic familiarity with computer/tables and register.
