Home Depot Kids Workshop
Children can put together a simple craft with a hammer and a few nails at free event.
Young budding do-it-yourselfers will get to try out their skills at a special Kids Workshop at the East Windsor this Saturday.
The free craft event, which starts at 9 a.m. and runs through 12 noon, is held the first Saturday of every month at Home Depot stores across the U.S. Kids who attend will be given a craft to assemble at the store with the help of a few nails, wood glue and a hammer. Children must be accompanied by a parent or an adult.
Just in time for the approaching school year, this week’s craft will be a wooden pencil box.

Parents are advised to arrive at the event early, as a limited number of crafts are available.
Kids who complete a craft will be presented with a signed certificate of accomplishment, a Home Depot orange apron (just like the ones worn by the store’s associates) and a commemorative pin that pictures the craft.

Kids can collect the pins to show which crafts they have created.
My daughters have already attended a few of these workshops and proudly wear their pins on their aprons to each Home Depot crafting event.
With a little help from me, my daughters have assembled a wooden race car, planter and flower pot holder.
The crafts also provide a fun activity at home for children, as the crafts can be decorated with prints, glitter and stickers that may be on hand at home after the event.
