The Rimon Avodat HaLev Service of the Heart Award will be presented at the concert to Laurie-Dinerstein Kurs and Steve Kurs for their commitment to Rimon and to the broader community. Laurie has been very involved in spearheading many of our wonderful programs including our P.O.R.K. program (a support group for parents of religious kids) which has received national recognition, an inclusion program for people with special needs run jointly with the Boggs Center at Rutgers University, and our honoring of the Veterans of Foreign wars on Memorial Day.

Many people have been touched by Laurie and Steve's commitment to chesed - good deeds and kindness to others. Rabbi Laurie has been the community chaplain, an organizer of bikur cholim, (a volunteer group to visit sick people) a co-founder of P.ORK, the founder of the community chevra Kaddisha , (a volunteer group that prepares the bodies for burial according to Jewish tradition), and  also serves as Vice President of the national chevra kaddisha association Kavod V'Nachum . Recently she has been appointed as Democratic Committeewoman for East Windsor.

Steve has served on the East Windsor rescue squad, on the board of the East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority and  as Vice President of the 9th District NJ State First Aid Council.
