"It Gets Better" One-Act Play Reading

Eighth grade students of the Melvin H. Kreps Middle School will present a staged reading of “It Gets Better” on Wednesday, March 16th at 7:30pm in the Kreps Middle School auditorium.  The reading is based on the “It Gets Better” video project that supports LGBT youth and other students facing bullying, intolerance, hatred, and often violence in all forms. The play conveys a powerful message that everyone deserves to be respected for who they are, and provides hope for bullied kids by letting them know that "It Gets Better."

The student performers will be introduced by Kreps class of ’97 graduate Steven Gordon, who faced some of the difficulties conveyed by our actors within this very school. Steven has gone on to some truly inspirational work at TheAli Forney Center in NYC, whose mission is to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) youth who have been rejected from their families. The Center strives to protect these youths from the dangers of homelessness and to support them in becoming safe and independent as they move from adolescence to adulthood.

Admission to the reading is FREE and open to the public; no tickets are necessary. All members of the community, particularly middle and high school students, are encouraged to attend.
