Hightstown High Musicians Star in Music Video

Spoiled Rotten's "Wreck Over You" was shot Monday, partially at Tavern on the Lake.

A pair of  juniors and two other students shot a music video Monday at several locales throughout the state, including  in Hightstown. But even if it's their band's name, it doesn't seem fair to call these kids "Spoiled Rotten."

Natalie Ortega and Connor Ernst make up the local half of the pop rock band, with both doing vocals and guitar and Connor also playing piano. The other two are drummer Dylan Sutton of New Brunswick and Jefferson Williams of the Dallas area in Texas, who also plays guitar and sings in the group. Natalie, Dylan and Jefferson have been a unit for about two years, with Connor being a recent addition.

The band has a distribution deal with Universal Music, which is producing the video for the web and possibly television.

Speaking with Patch just before shooting the scene at the tavern, the band mates bantered over how to spell the name of the song whose video they were filming, "Wreck Over You."

"With a capital U, right?" Connor asked with a grin.

With a laugh, Natalie instantly replied, "Definitely Y-O-U."

Jefferson said the video features two interwoven love stories.

"It's just really fun, and kid and teen-oriented," Natalie added.

As the crew and band set up the equipment on the tavern patio and makeup artists fussed over Natalie, whose outfit also included some extremely high heels, extras from the high school milled around as they waited for the cameras to roll.

Other locations in the video included an Edison bowling alley and Ortega's home in the Cranbury Manor development in East Windsor. The portion shot in Hightstown will make up the "concert" portion of the video, with the band on instruments and microphones.

The video is expected to be ready in about a month.
