Perennial Home Celebrates 9th Anniversary

The Hightstown decor store is the work of owner Karen West.

Hightstown's  celebrated its ninth anniversary Tuesday, June 21, by offering refreshments and extending its regular one-item, 25-percent birthday discount to everyone on behalf of its own big day.

Owner Karen West, who works with Downtown Hightstown to promote the borough, said she started her business and has kept it running through the recent economic boom and the more recent recession. She spent the day handing out treats to visitors, including one of her artists, Judy Pugliese, whose decorative painting graces many of the store's objects.

"My artists are the best thing that ever happened to me," West said.

Perennial Home carries the works of a number of local craftspeople. As West told the 3/50 Project, "the store showcases local artists, vendors, and craftsmen. Inventory changes daily, assuring customers a unique selection unavailable at other stores. Happy customers know their purchases help locals and their wallets reap the rewards of no delivery costs. Wood furniture, window treatments, pillows, artwork, glassware, jewelry and wine accessories can be customized."
