Pickwick Hallmark Celebrates 40 Years in Business

The business is handing out tote bags and offering 40 percent off coupons in honor of their anniversary.

Pickwick Hallmark, located within the Town Center Plaza on Route 130 in East Windsor, is celebrating 40 years in business.

Owner Alyssa Lukowitsky said that the family-owned business was opened by her parents in 1973. They chose East Windsor because it was a young and growing community, according to Lukowitsky.

“Our business has been successful because we have always maintained current merchandise that is always reasonably priced,” Lukowitsky said. “We have great customer service and a friendly staff and loyal customers.”

But forty years in business is not without struggle. Lukowitsky mentioned that the store suffered hardships in the 1970s during the gasoline embargo and also after the tragedy of September 11. There were also struggling times during various stock market crashes and the loss of jobs over the years.

However, the best times have come from the people. Customer interaction is Lukowitsky’s favorite part of her job and some of the customers have become like family because they have been frequent shoppers since the store opened. Loyalty from customers is something Lukowitsky is grateful for as she said she looks forward to another 40 years in business.
