Shiseido America Holds Ribbon Cutting for East Windsor Expansion

The expansion of the warehouse will also bring in additional employees.

East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov joined Shiseido Executives and Council members Hector Duke, Perry Shapiro, Peter Yeager and John Zoller to cut the ribbon for the company’s 72,988 square foot two-phase expansion of the existing 211,000 square foot facility on Princeton-Hightstown Road on July 2.

Shiseido Company Japan Corporate Officer and Head of Global Supply Chain Kiyoshi Ishimoto, Shiseido America President and Chief Operating Officer Edward Houlihan, and Shiseido America Senior Vice President of Technical and Quality Assurance Yoshikuni Fukuchi were present at last week's ceremony.

The Japanese-based global cosmetics and skincare company, which has about 150 full-time employees and up to an additional 150 part-time employees, will add ten full-time employees with the expansion.

Phase I includes a 54,580 square foot office addition to the existing warehouse building, while Phase II includes an 18,408 square foot addition behind the existing office building, plus additional parking and an expanded loading area.

The expansion increases space for the handling of the company’s successful brands, including Shiseido, NARS and Bare Escentuals, and increases distribution capabilities on site to more efficiently handle the export of products manufactured at the East Windsor facility to Europe and Asia. The additional space also will allow the facility to move their loading docks inside to accommodate an efficient floor loading system.

“Today is an exciting step for Shiseido’s operations and continued growth and for East Windsor," Mironov said. "Shiseido has been a great model in terms of a business model, a community model and an environmental leader, and that’s really an unbeatable combination. This expansion will generate additional tax dollars, ensure the existing jobs as well as grow some jobs for the area and allow us to continue the productive partnership that we have enjoyed with Shiseido.”

Shiseido America President and Chief Operating Officer Edward Houlihan said that  Shiseido is proud to have worked closely with the mayor and the Council for over a decade and is thankful of the partnership.

“East Windsor’s strategic location also provides easy access to major piers, airports and highways, enabling our company to efficiently distribute products domestically and internationally," Houlihan said.

Mironov also thanked the company for their long history of promoting and protecting the environment.
