New Supermarket and Gym Coming to Windsor Center

Bottom Dollar Food and Retro Fitness will be opening within the Windsor Center on Route 130.

Two of the empty storefronts in the Windsor Center will be filled shortly as a food store and a fitness location have agreed to take over two of the largest spots in the shopping center.

Bottom Dollar Food will take the 22,500 space formerly held by Super Fresh while Retro Fitness will take the 12,500 square feet spot formerly occupied by another fitness center. The Super Fresh location had been closed since April of 2011.

Advance Realty announced that Bottom Dollar is expected to open in October. They describe the chain as a "soft-discount grocery store," that, "offers customers an assortment of private and national brand grocery items in an energetic shopping environment."

Retro Fitness is expected to open in September and is based out of Monmouth County with more than 120 gyms in 10 states.

Last year, Advance Realty and Structure Tone Equities bought the shopping center with plans to bring new life to the once vibrant property. They also changed the name from the Windsor Heights Shopping Center to Windsor Center.

Advance Managing Director Brian Banaszynski said he was glad to bring two big draws to the center. "Bringing well-established brands such as Bottom Dollar and Retro Fitness to Windsor Center is an important step in our repositioning effort, and we anticipate other top retailers will follow suit."

He added, "The acquisition of the property was a strategic, value-add investment and we are pleased that we are beginning to see such quick results, validating our decision."

East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov said she was also encouraged to see the progress made. "The Township has remained in close contact with representatives of Advance Realty since they purchased the center last July, and are pleased by their aggressive leasing activities and anticipated physical upgrades for this high visibility center."

In January, Patch asked readers what they would like to see in the old Super Fresh location and one of the most popular answers was Bottom Dollar. As early as March of 2012 the chain confirmed they were looking into opening at the location.

At that time there were 31 Bottom Dollar stores in the greater Philadelphia area as well as 14 others near Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio. The closest locations to East Windsor are on Route 130 in Bordentown and on St. Broad Street in Trenton.

Retro Fitness has nearby locations in Kingston and North Brunswick as well as others in Monmouth, Middlesex and Mercer Counties. The company was founded by the same person who also created Let's Yo! which also recently opened a location in East Windsor. The company was also featured on an episode of Undercover Boss.
