NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Public and nonprofit managers interested in preparing for leadership roles and enhancing their management skills can now register for the spring session of Rutgers’ popular Mini-Master in Public Administration™  program, which begins April 4.

The 30-hour program is conveniently structured for working professionals with classes on five Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 4, 11, 25 and May 2 and 9.  Participants must complete the entire program to earn the Mini-MPA™ certificate.

The MiniMPA™ is offered by the Rutgers-Camden Department of Public Policy and Administration (DPPA) in partnership with the Center for Executive Leadership in Government (CELG) at CELG’s headquarters at 303 George St. in downtown New Brunswick.

The program’s core modules cover 10 topics critical to public and nonprofit management taught by experienced Rutgers faculty and practitioners. Sessions feature interactive, in-depth discussions and hands-on lessons.

This spring’s seminar topics will include modules on communication skills, leadership and team development, public law, conflict resolution, financial management, ethical dilemmas, and performance management.

First offered in 2011, the Mini-MPA™ has awarded certificates to more than 70 people from the public and nonprofit sectors and has consistently received high marks in surveys of its graduates.

According to Dr. Angie McGuire, program director, the Mini-MPA™ program benefits both mid-career and emerging professionals.

“The Mini-MPA™ offers senior executives an opportunity to update their leadership skills, and can help mid-career professionals fast-track their careers, or give young careerists a foundation in the public and nonprofit sectors,” McGuire said.

The program fee is $2,500, and includes breakfast, lunch and all materials. Recently dislocated workers may be eligible for Individual Training Account (ITA) grants. Discounts are available for organizations enrolling two or more participants.
