11-Year-Old Wins Cranbury Farmers’ Market Logo Contest

The logo will be used on promotional material for the market.

The Cranbury Farmers’ Market is starting next month, and organizers have named 11-year-old Claire Xu as the winner of the logo contest.

Xu’s logo competed against 22 other entries, including one from her twin sister, Chris Xu. The logo will be featured on all promotional material for the market, including a banner across Main Street, posters and possibly hats, mugs and t-shirts, according to Organizer Susan Norman.

The market will run July 13 through Sept. 21 at the end of Park Place West off Main Street.

Norman said it was a close race between three logos, coming in four or less votes apart. Xu, who is a 5th grade student at the Cranbury School, said the logo took her two days to create, and she was excited about winning.

As part of the grand prize for the winner, Xu picked out a new bike at Knapps Bike Shop on Friday. All participants will receive a $5 gift certificate at Gil & Bert’s Ice Cream.

All of the logos submitted to the contest are on display at Sotheby’s International Realty office. Vendor applications for the market can be found on the Township's website.

The bike was donated by Pete Garnich, owner at Knapp's Bike Shop; Lorraine Perna, The Village Haircutters; Norman, manager at Callaway Henderson Sotheby's International Reaty; Eddie, Bobby and Joey at Cranbury Pizza; George Nikitiades at Teddy's Restaurant; and Nancy Witt at Sweetwater Construction.
