Area Traffic Alert: Road Resurfacing on Interstate 195

Beginning this evening (March 14), as part of a project to resurface "deteriorated sections" of I-195 in Hamilton and Robbinsville townships, one lane of I-195 East will be closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for about one month.

Motorists from Lawrence Township and the surrounding area need to be aware of a “high-priority” road resurfacing project along the eastbound side of Interstate 195 that will begin tonight (March 14).

The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced the project this afternoon, saying the work is being done immediately to “address high priority, deteriorated sections" of I-195 in Hamilton and Robbinsville townships.

As part of the project, one lane of I-195 East will be closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for about one month.

Areas to be resurfaced include:

  • Milepost 0.5 to 0.9
  • Milepost 1.7 to 2.0
  • Milepost 4.3 to 4.4
  • The South Broad Street ramp to I-195 East
  • The I-195 East acceleration/deceleration lanes to and from Exit 6 (New Jersey Turnpike)
  • The Exit 5 (Route 130) on/off ramps in both directions

NJDOT said it has scheduled the work to be done overnight to “minimize the impact to commuters.”

Resurfacing operations will begin at Milepost 0.5 and proceed east. All work will be weather dependent.
