Celebrate Independence Day on July 5 in Cranbury

Cranbury will hold an Independence Day celebration on July 5 with music and fireworks in the park. 

The Mercer County Symphonic Band will start at 6:30 p.m. in Village Park followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. over the lake.

The Cranbury Police Department said they will be checking coolers for alcoholic beverages and confiscate them. CERT members will be on foot patrols in the park, assisting with traffic control at Bennett Place, helping pedestrians cross the street at Maplewood Avenue, handing out flashers to children and will be available for in case of an emergency, said Lt. Frank Dillane.

Several businesses will be running specials or have a change in hours, including those listed below.

• The Cranbury Lions will be selling popsicles and Italian ice in front of Veteran’s Park near the firehouse before the fireworks. 
• Charmed By Claire will be open until 8 p.m. Anyone wearing red, white or blue will receive a surprise with their purchase. 
• Jack’s Candy Shack will be open until the start of the fireworks. All candy will be buy two, get one free on July 5.
