Celebrating 90 Years of the Hightstown Library
Registration is open for a day of music, games, craft and cake
This July, the Hightstown Memorial Branch of the Mercer County Library System celebrates 90 years of service to the community. We would like to invite everyone to join us for a big celebration on Saturday, July 16 from 10 am to 12 pm. There will be music, games, crafts, balloon animals and birthday cake; fun for the whole family! Please call the library at 609-448-1474 to register.
Originally founded by Hightstown’s Friday Club, the Hightstown Library opened in on July 19, 1921 in the sewing room of the Smith house on Stockton Street. The library has moved four times over the years. The current library, located in Memorial Park, was built by public donations and dedicated to veterans of all wars on Memorial Day, 1954. Its motto is “Peace through Education.” In 1968, the library joined the Mercer County Library System. The Memorial Park building has been expanded twice to accommodate increased usage, first in 1975 and again in 1998. The library is looking forward to serving the community for many years to come!
