Create Your Own Story @ Your Library

The Hickory Corner Library takes on National Library Week.

By Youth Services Librarian Andrea Lenhardt and Reference Librarian Yolande Zealy

The of the Mercer County Library System is celebrating National Library Week in a big way.

In 2011, National Library Week will be celebrated from April 10 to 16. It is an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians. This year’s theme is “Create Your Own Story @ Your Library.” During the month of April, library patrons can submit their own stories about the importance of libraries in their lives.  The stories will be displayed in the library and participants will be entered to win a gift card to Barnes & Noble.

To celebrate National Library Week with the children, the Hickory Corner Library will host singer Miss Amy on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. and magician Mr. Dennis on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. Children are also invited to join our National Library Week contest by drawing a picture or writing a story about a day at the library. Entries will be displayed in the library and three winners will be chosen at random in each age group (ages 2 to 5, 6 to 9, and 10 and up) to win Barnes & Noble gift cards.
