JCP&L Trimming Trees in East Windsor, Hightstown

The work is done in four-year cycles, the company said.

Jersey Central Power & Light is starting tree-trimming work in East Windsor and Hightstown in an effort to maintain reliable service, the company said.

The contractor Nelson Tree Service will complete the work, which is done in four-year cycles, the electric company said in a news release.

JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano said residents could expect work to be done on several streets in town, include Route 130, Dutch Neck Road, Stockton Street, Wyckoff Mills Road and Devonshire Road. Morano could not provide an exact schedule of the work in town.

“Trees are a leading cause of power outages and when trees and power lines touch it can create a dangerous condition,” JCP&L said in a news release. “The company’s certified forestry experts inspect vegetation near the lines to ensure trees are pruned in a manner that preserves the health of the tree, while also maintaining safety near electric facilities.”

However, if a tree is diseased or becomes dangerous, it is removed, the release said.
