Mercer County to Hold Household Chemicals and Electronic Waste Disposal Day

Mercer County residents can dispose of household chemicals and electronic waste on July 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John T. Dempster Fire School, 350 Lawrence Station Road in Lawrenceville. 

Sponsored by the Mercer County Improvement Authority, attendees must show proof of residence, such as a drivers license, and commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted. 

“The Mercer County Improvement Authority is providing an excellent opportunity for Mercer County residents,” Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said in a press release. “Residents can easily, safely dispose of their dangerous chemical and electronic waste, and thenrelax and let Mercer County take care of the rest.”

Residents can drop off unwanted electronics including televisions, radios, printers, keyboards, copiers, phones, microwaves, camera equipment and computers to be recycled.

Acceptable household chemicals that can be dropped off include Aerosol cans, batteries, photographic chemicals, used motor oil and oil filters, lighterfluid, propane gas tanks, pesticides/herbicides, pool chemicals, oil-based paint, paint thinners, gasoline, antifreeze, driveway sealer, insect repellants and mercury.
