Water Restrictions Lifted in Cranbury

Repairs have been completed on the New Jersey American Water transmission main, according to the water company.

Cranbury residents can resume normal water use after repairs on a leaking 60-inch water transmission main in Manville were completed, according to the water company.

The main distributes water to more than 55,000 customers and New Jersey American Water asked water use in 18 municipalities cut back on outdoor use while repairs were made on the line that sits 14 feet underground.

“Our preliminary investigation efforts were constrained by difficult site conditions and safety concerns related to the depth of this high pressure main and its proximity to the Royce Brook. As such, our repair plan had several contingencies based on what we found once the main was depressurized and the excavation dewatered,” Stephen P. Schmitt, vice president of operations at New Jersey American Water, said in a news release.

“As our repair plan progressed the leak was identified on an 8-inch steel flange on the main and the repairs were successfully completed overnight. New Jersey American Water appreciates its customer for their cooperation in conserving water during the repair period.”
