Week Ahead: Public Hearing on Cranbury Budget Tonight

Meetings and more highlight busy week in Hightstown, East Windsor, and Cranbury.

There will be lots to do this week between Cranbury, Hightstown and East Windsor ranging from meetings to community gatherings and more. 

The Hightstown Planning Board is scheduled to meet tonight at 6 p.m at the First Aid Building. According to the agenda posted on the borough's website the board will discuss an amendment to the Master Plan. It is described as a "New Planning Policy for Route 33 Corridor." They are also scheduled to discuss the Greenway Walking Bridge. 

The Cranbury Township Council is also scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. There will be a public hearing on the proposed budget for 2013 and the council is also scheduled to adopt the budget. The council is also scheduled to introduce a bond ordinance of $2,027,500 "for various capital improvements," of the township. The total amount to be bonded is set to be $1,908,740.

Tuesday night is scheduled to be the last meeting of the Cranbury Board of Education before next week's election. Also, on Tuesday the Cranbury School PTO is scheduled to meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the Large Group Room. 

Ahead of next week's election a Board of Education Candidates' Night will be held on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the Large Group Room. There are four seats up for grabs and four candidates running to fill them Pramod Chivate, Linda Penney and Lindsay McDowell are running for full terms while Dominique Jones is running for a two-year unexpired term.

On Thursday morning, a member of Rep. Rush Holt's staff will be in Cranbury for a mobile congressional office. They are scheduled to be in the Town Hall Meeting Room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions on a variety of topics. 

A local author will be talking about his book on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Cranbury Senior Center. John Chambers will discuss "Cranbury, a New Jersey Town from Colonial Era to the Present. The event starts at noon with lunch and costs just $3 per person. Call 395-0900 ext. 243 to make a reservation. 

There is also a full slate of spring activities this weekend including the 7th Annual Stream Clean-Up at Village Park in Cranbury. A similar event is also scheduled to be held in East Windsor. 

The East Windsor Fire Department will also be holding a Psychic Fair on Sunday at noon at the One Mile Road house.
