Driver of Overturned Car in East Windsor Pronounced Dead

A Monroe man who struck a utility pole on Route 130 in East Windsor on Thursday has been pronounced dead, according to police. Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center staff announced that Anthony Saer, 72, died at approximately 12:07 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. Saer experienced a medical event preceding the accident which caused his car to leave the road, hit a utility pole, and overturn. 

Hightstown Councilman to Introduce Resolution Creating Volunteer Appreciation Week in April

The week of April 21-27 will be declared Hightstown Volunteer Appreciation Week in a resolution to be introduced by Councilman Rob Thibault at the Borough Council’s April 1, 2013 meeting.  Councilman Thibault will also present Borough volunteers with personalized Certificates of Recognition and lapel pins, a tradition he started in 2012 to thank volunteers for their dedication in serving the Borough and its residents.

State Champion Named at NJ Poetry Out Loud Competition

Kavita Oza, an 11th grader from the Peddie School in Hightstown, was named State Champion at the NJ Poetry Out Loud competition, a national poetry recitation program. The state finals took place on March 15 at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium as the kick-off of the Princeton Poetry Festival. Oza will move on to represent New Jersey in the national finals in Washington, DC in April.

East Windsor 2012 Employees of the Year Recognized

East Windsor Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov recognized 2012 Employees of the Year:

  • Jennifer Santiago of the Township Manager’s office
  • Police Detective Joseph Gorski
  • William Askenstedt, Director of Public Works

 

Princeton High Teacher Helps Language Impaired Students Succeed

For the past 10 years Janet Felton has worked as a speech-language specialist at Princeton High School. Last fall, after attending a workshop on executive functioning – the set of skills we use to plan, organize, initiate, and complete activities - she shared what she learned with her colleagues in the Princeton Public School District. Felton received an $876 Mini-Grant from the Princeton Education Foundation to buy materials for she and four other teachers she is training. 

 

East Windsor Man Faces Aggravated Assault Charge Against Juvenile

East Windsor resident Shamar Roberts, 20, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief for allegedly being involved in a fight on Jamestown Road, East Windsor police said.  Police were called to the area of the reported fight at around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 where they learned that there was an altercation between an adult and a juvenile. 


Robbinsville Firefighter Injured in East Windsor Blaze

A Twin Rivers home was lost to a fire during the early morning hours of Thursday, March 21, East Windsor Police have reported. While the fire was ultimately extinguished, the home was declared uninhabitable and a firefighter was injured. A Robbinsville firefighter was struck by a firehose which caused a laceration to his head. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in Hamilton Township for treatment.

 

East Windsor man William Warner, 54, was arrested on Monday, March 18 for allegedly pointing a gun at another person.  Warner was speaking to an individual about a noise complaint on Abbington Drive, where Warner resides, when he reportedly pointed a handgun at him, according to East Windsor police. The victim left the area without being harmed and contacted police.
