Week in Review: Sal's Pizzeria Owner Dies, Cat in Cranbury with Rabies

A review of the week's top stories.

Middlesex County Office of Health Services is asking residents to report animals who show signs of unusual behavior after a stray cat in Cranbury tested positive for rabies on May 17, making it the third rabid animal in the county in 2012. 

Owner of  Alex Scavo died Wednesday at the age of 39. Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong East Windsor resident restaurateur and businessman. At Sal's Pizzeria he enjoyed working with family and socializing with longtime friends, customers and community members. Scavo  three years ago after his father, Sal, passed away.

Part of the reason 49-year-old Hightstown resident and father of two decided to enter the tattoo business is because he loves to meet new people.

Hightstown residents will be seeing a $72 tax increase on the average assessed house in the Borough after the 2012 budget was passed unanimously Monday night.
