Weekend Guide: Memorial Day Parades

Israel talk, karaoke and a choral concert

The 93rd will take place May 28 at 9 a.m., rain or shine, beginning at the on Stockton Street in Hightstown. The theme this year is "Honoring Our Brave."

The parade will pause at the Civil War monument for a wreath-laying ceremony and 21-gun salute. A short service will be held at Memorial Park, and the parade will end at the VFW Post on Dutch Neck Road. Hot dogs and drinks will be available at the post.

Then starting at 1 p.m. Cranbury will hold a Memorial Day Parade on Main Street. Sponsored by the Cranbury Lions, some of the parade will include floats, local veterans, antique cars and emergency responders.

Saturday, May 26:

  • will host a talk titled "From Sinai to San Remo: The Legal Claim to the Land of Israel" at 11:30 a.m. This lunch-and-learn event will be presented by Prof. Eugene Kontorovich of Northwestern University.
  • will present a karaoke night with DJ Mike, beginning at 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 27:

  • will host a Shavuot Storytime and Ice Cream Party, beginning at 10:30 a.m. During the program. Children will learn about the Ten Commandments, hear a story about Holiday of Shavuos, and eat some delicious dairy desserts.
  • The Kinnara Ensemble will perform a concert titled "…and gone the next" beginning at 3 p.m. at . The choral concert is described as a reflection on change and loss. The program will include works by Mäntyjärvi, Byrd and MacMillan.
