McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union Hosts Seminar To Help Students Save For College And Avoid Debt After Graduation

The Financial Literacy Series seminar series "Book Smart, Street Smart: Saving For College and Avoiding Debt" is being held Wed., July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union, 120 Windsor Center Drive, East Windsor, N.J.

The speaker, Lauren Young, is the wealth editor at Thomson Reuters overseeing personal finance, investment management and wealth management. Young also hosts Reuters TV online personal finance channel, Money Clip, which offers insight on saving and investing. Young has also written for BusinessWeek and SmartMoney, and covered mutual funds and corporate bonds for Dow Jones. Her discussion topics include:

Navigate ways to save for college and stay out of debt after graduation
Learn about 529 savings plans versus taxable savings accounts
Understand when and how to apply for financial aid

The July 31 seminar is presented without charge and includes "grill and chill" outdoor food and beverages prior to the presentation, free parking, and sample financial  literacy materials. Attendees can also enter to win gift cards and other great prizes. Students who attend will receive a $15 iTunes gift card. Educators earn professional development credits towards 9.2 Financial Literacy Standards.
