HEWYBL Update – Week ending 5/8/11

See what happened in Hightstown East Windsor Youth Baseball League action this past week!

Cal Ripken T-BALL

On Friday, the Dom's Service Center Red Ninjas and Reflections Hair & Nail Studio Bears played to an 18-18 tie.  Sean Alhadef got the Bears off to a rousing start while Amy Warsaw and Ben Dubrule each made 2 great defensive plays and Kevin Clarke brought everyone home with a grand slam.  For the Ninjas, Sean Burke and Justin Shaw each had 3 hits while Jason Capre played solid defense.

On Saturday, the Dom's Service Center Red Ninjas and Reflections Hair & Nail Studio Bears met again.  This time, the Ninjas were led by the hitting of Evan Lesser and Jason Shumsky while Alina Caylo sparkled in the field.  For the Bears, Jake Michenfelder made 3 great stops at second base while Nell Richardson made sure nothing got past her on 1st base.  She also had 3 RBI's.

For the Vipers, Anthony Lazzaro pitched a solid first two innings. Michael Hayden relieved and not only pitched an awesome third and fourth inning; he caught a line drive back to the pitcher's mound to prevent advancement of the runners.  Brian McGlew hit a nice shot to get safely to first.  On the Ninjas, Steven Lippman pitched three innings allowing only three runs and striking out four. William Umoja Meyers brought in the go-ahead run while Alex LoPorto pitched the closing inning and hit the back fence with a standing double.

On Saturday, April 30 the East Coast Martial Arts Ninjas defeated the Hamilton Little Lads by a score of 10-6. Nikhil Cukkemane pitched three innings, and while striking out four, he also had two hits in three at bats inclusive of a double. Both Gabe Winzinger and Nick Petillo went three for four. Terrific pitching was also performed by Matt Achaibar and Matt Erman.
