Hightstown Obituary: Rose Brenda Varo, 87

Varo was a lifelong resident of Hightstown and a long time parishioner of St. Anthony's.

Rose Brenda Varo, 87, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Brandywine Senior Living at Princeton, where she had resided for the past 7 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY and lived most of her life in Hightstown.

She was united in marriage to Vincenzo (James) Varo on June 15, 1947; he preceded her in death on October 5, 2010. They were married for 63 blissful years. Her time was spent being a wife, mother, nanny and homemaker. She loved cooking, working in her yard and gardens, all types of music and watching "The New York Yankee's". She was a long time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church.

Daughter of the late Michael and Rachel Carneglia, Sister of the late Americo (Rick) Carneglia. She is survived by three children, Joseph Varo and his wife JoAnn of Manalapan, Rachele Gibbons and her husband Keith of Lawrenceville, Lory Wood and her husband Joe of Burlington, five loving grandchildren, Jonathan Varo of Arizona, Julie, Cheyenne, Mandee and Alex Wood of Burlington, one great grandson, Gabriel Varo of Arizona; three sisters and two brothers: Angelina and Arthur Clark of Pennsylvania, Loretta Foster, MaryAnn and Charles Grover and Raymond and Diane Carneglia all of Florida, Michael and Barbara Carneglia of New Jersey; In law's Doris Carneglia and Josephine Bogacs of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown. Interment is private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the following organization: St. Anthony of Padua Church, 158 Maxwell Avenue, Hightstown, NJ 08520.
