Lifelong Cranbury Resident Dies at 65

Lee Hutchinson was the owner of Hutchinson Excavating in Cranbury for over 65 years.

Leroy W. "Lee" Hutchinson, 65, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 7, at his home in Portage Lake, ME. He was born April 21, 1948, and raised in Cranbury, NJ, a son of the late Harvey and Genevieve (Stonaker) Hutchinson.

After graduating from Hightstown High School, Lee enlisted with the US Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam. For being wounded twice during wartime and his honorable service, he received two Purple Hearts.

Spending his whole life in Cranbury, NJ, he was also the owner of Hutchinson Excavating for over 35 years. After retirement, he relocated to Portage Lake, ME, with his loving wife, Lucy, where he was recently elected president of the Portage Lake ATV Club. He was especially proud to be a grandfather to his "Izzy," and especially eager to spend more time with his new little Katie.

Lee will be dearly missed by his wife of 24 years, Lucy (Pryor) Hutchinson of Portage Lake, ME; two children, Scott Hutchinson and his wife, Donna, of Hamilton, NJ, and Terri Santos of Hightstown, NJ; a step-son, Jason Harvey and his wife, Stephanie, of Yukon, OK; three brothers, Richard Hutchinson and his wife, Shelia, of Monroe, NJ, John Hutchinson and his wife, Eloise, of Pocomoke, MD, and George Hutchinson and his companion, Gail, of Dayton, NJ, and two granddaughters, Isabela Santos and Katie Hutchinson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey and Robert Hutchinson, and a sister, Dorothy Thompson.

Friends and family may call Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. at the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520.
