Monroe Obituary: Leonard Semel, 84

Services will be at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels in Manalapan on Monday at 11 a.m.

Leonard Semel, 84, of Monroe Township, N.J., died Friday, Nov. 29. Services will be at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Ave., Route 527 North, Manalapan, N.J., on Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m.

Born in Newark, N.J., Leonard lived in Springfield, N.J., for 31 years before moving to Monroe Township in 1996. He graduated from Rutgers University, Newark, in 1951. He was an Army veteran. Having worked in the flooring business for many years, Leonard was the owner of Wall to Wall, Inc., of Springfield, N.J., retiring in 2000. He was an avid card player and a member of Greenbriar Bowling Club, B'nai B'rith, and Meals on Wheels of Jewish Family Services of Monroe Township.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred (nee Baumstein); his devoted children, Scott and his wife, Lori Semel, of Englishtown, N.J., Mark and his wife, Marci, of Fanwood, N.J., and Karen Avant of Freehold, N.J.; and his dear sister, Arlene Klinger of Boynton Beach, Fla. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Joshua and Molli.
